Jesus Is Enough
“For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” — Hebrews 10:14
“Salvation is found in no one else…” — Acts 4:12
“It is finished.” — John 19:30
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
He Just Is
Jesus is enough. He just is. There’s no question about it.
But the real question is this: do we believe it? Do we live like we believe it? And what happens if we actually do?
Do we believe He’s enough with a little of our guidance? Do we trust Him when life is good, but quietly take back the reins when the storms roll in?
When We Think He Needs Our Help
If I’m honest, most of my life I’ve lived like Jesus is enough with my help. Or maybe, I’m enough with a little help from Jesus. Either way, in those scenarios — He’s not quite enough.
The truth is, most of us are carrying some kind of pain. Studies say well over half of us — some as high as 87% — live with unresolved trauma or internal wounds. And those wounds, if left untouched, shape how we see God. They shaped how I saw Him, too.
The Prayer That Opened the Door Again
There was a season when I was done. I had no idea if I believed anymore. No idea how to pray.
But in that dark place, my mentors, Bob and Judy Hughes, sent me a prayer — just three sentences — straight from 1 Thessalonians 5:18:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Thank you Lord, that all my needs are met, and your love and grace are enough.
Thank you Lord for just the way things are right now.
Thank you Lord for how this is all going to turn out.
That was it. Three sentences that didn’t fix everything, but opened the door again. I didn’t have to have all the answers. I just had to whisper gratitude — even when I didn’t feel it.
“When we finally stop trying to help Jesus be enough, and simply let Him be enough — that’s where healing begins.”
If you’re in a place where faith feels thin, or your pain feels heavier than your hope, don’t give up. He’s still there. He’s still enough.
Let’s talk about it!
